Today a patient called me today and told me to file claims to her husband’s insurance. The charges were in April and May of this year. So I asked her when his insurance’s effect date. She stated to me that it was in June or July of this year. So I explain to her the date of service was back in April and May. She told me that just file the claim so they can pay. I told her I can’t if the patient wasn’t cover. She keep going on and on about filing the claims to them. I told her that I will check with his insurance and find out the effect date and go from there. Am I missing anything? Why would an insurance company pay on a charge that they didn’t have you? Oh well I am going to watch some tv so this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
Today at work it was so crazy. We had a few people off and we could tell. I felt like I have been talking all day. It has been so busy I didn’t note a lot of accounts. I had some good calls but most of my calls weren’t that lucky. One patient had me on phone for an hour. She wants to know why her credit was marked for charges in 2008. She paid us in this year and the credit was marked this year. She paid us the same month that her credit was marked. She tried to blame us for everything. She really didn’t get to me but just the time I was on the phone. Then another lady I felt sorry for her but it really not my problem that her insurance company closed and she have to pay us over $6,000. She told me that we need to write it off because the issue. How can it be our problem if your insurance company closed? If you know please let me know. I would listen to you. Anyway I am going to get going and watch some TV so this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
Today at work was pretty busy for a Friday. I had to pick up a lot of calls today. I really don’t have to pick up calls unless it’s my phone day. I am so beat I can’t even think on what to write about. I over slept this morning and I had to get ready in a half hour then like an hour before. I was going crazy. Well I think I am going to get going. Sorry for the short blogs but I hope I can make a long one someday. So this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
Well this year is half way over. I have been bloging every day so far this year. I am so glad that I am keeping it up. I really don’t have much to write about tonight. Right now I am watching some tv and relaxing. Work was pretty busy today. I am so glad to be off on Monday for the 4th of July. I need another break. On Tuesday I may have Jury duty and it’s for the US court. So we will see if I will get on or not. Well I am going to get off to watch my favorite show Wipeout. What a day at work. I had two calls that gave me the biggest headache. Some patients think they are the only one. The one patient told me that his doctor want us to remove another doctor charge. I explain to him like what we did many other times that we can’t do that. It’s like you tell someone to remove money from someone’s account that you have no right to remove it. He just didn’t want to listen. I was lucky that my boss took the call. I just need to follow up the account be sure work will be done. Also the other call the lady think we should just write off the balance. It’s our fault because we don’t take her insurance and she was seen by our doctors. I just learn no matter what you can’t please everyone. Anyway I am so tried and I am going to end this so this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
Sometimes don’t understand people. Today at work the phones were off the hook. So my supervisor told me that she needs help out on the phones. I take it as if it is busy pick up a call or two. However she really means that I have to stay on the phones. So guess what? I called in the office about it. They are not mad at me but I need to understand what they are saying. I think they just want to see how I act. Oh well I really don’t care anymore. They want us to do so much with so little time. Well I am going to play a game. Well today I send an email to our collections department about the lady I told you about yesterday. The person who works in collections told me that they are not going to hold the account. Found out that this lady always trying to get over with us so many times. I didn’t feel too bad for the lady. Anyway I am beat and going to bed. So this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
Today was my phone day at work. This older lady with her daughter on the phone called in. They want to know why the lady received a collection letter. She wants to know why I explain that the charges are since 2009 that’s not paid. Then she told me that she been paying all the time. So I looked at her history of her payments. I told her we just received a check and then back in March. So I explain that we need payments every month so we can set her up on a payment plan. She still thinks we are wrong for doing that. The daughter keep saying that she always pay her bills in a timely matter. So I look back in 2009 and I only see two payments in 2009. She blames us on us sending us a statement ever month and it’s a not a good time. You have to be kidding me four payments in two years I don’t think so. Maybe I am mean but I am just trying to help them out. I tried to offer them a payment plan but they don’t want to hear that. Oh well I don’t care let them talk to my boss and she will tell them off. I have learned that people will try to make you feel sorry for them. I can tell when they can’t pay because they will hear you out and understand what we can do. Others who just don’t want to pay they will blame us for everything. Anyway I am going to relax so this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
Today at work I had a call that I would never thought I would get. I will tell you the background of the patient and go from there. A patient was seen in the hospital and was seen by one of our doctors. The cost of all the services was about $1,200.00. So the patient’s husband called up who wasn’t on her account. He wanted to know if we will do any adjustments on the account. The patient’s insurance we don’t have an agreement with. They have to pay us in full however he still wanted a discount. So with that being said he received a check from his insurance for $800.00. He wants to know if we take that as payment in full. So after a few calls he agrees to send the check to me. So we posted the check on her account and per the information from his insurance he is still own us $400.00. I sent her a letter and explain that we must follow her insurance company. Well the patient received my letter and guess not happy. The husband wanted to talk to me. So I talked to him today on the phone. He went going on and on about the balance due. He told me that he send us $800.00. I did explain that’s what he received from his insurance company. That money didn’t come from him but the insurance company. So he stated to me that he can’t pay for the balance due. I offer him a payment plan and he didn’t want that. I offer him a financial hardship and he told me that he got money but can’t pay this bill. He even told me that he doesn’t live in a cardboard box. I almost died from hearing that but I didn’t. Well that was the best part of my day even thou he was a pain to me but it helped me out how to hander calls like his. Well I am going to get going so this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
Well I am going to keep this short because I want to get ready to watch Wipeout. Today at work was pretty busy with things. I am trying to get some of my phone work done so I will pretty much set with things. The person who helps me with the mail, she left the department and we have a new person. The new person used to be on the phone all the time so she is not used to all the mail. I told her it’s the same thing beside people wrote it. On Monday we got 42 letters from patients. We are working on that to get it done in 5 days. That’s our goal with the letters. Well I am getting off to watch Wipeout so this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
