Today Danielle and I did our taxes for 2009. I remember last year we got our money into our bank account. Then a few days later someone had my debt card number and used our money for things with our refund. We were so mad and had to file a police report. The good thing is we got all of the money back. I hope this year that won’t happen to. If you don’t know me that well I am a person always want to plan out stuff months before it happen. I even make out bills a week before I get paid. I don’t know why I do that but it’s just me. I know that sometimes Danielle don’t like me being that way but I’m sure she will think sometimes it’s good to do that. Anyway back to our taxes, we are getting back more this year than last year which is a good thing. I want to start saving a lot more than before. I just don’t like having backup money saved. I know one thing I want to use some of the money on is our older car. I hope it won’t cost too much money to get it fix. I think I am going to shop around for the best deal. Then we are going to see my parents in May so we need some money for that. We are driving so we would need some money for food and gas. My father told me they are going to pay for the hotel and gas. Which is very nice of them, they understand that Danielle doesn’t like to fly plus they don’t know how to get to the airport so that won’t be a good thing. It is going to take us two days to get there and two days on the way back. We are going to be there for two weeks and I haven’t seen them in two years so it will be a good time for us to see each other. The other good thing about driving is we can bring back anything we want. I do have a lot of stuff back home but I don’t have the room here to store it. Well I need to work on something for my mother in law so this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.

It’s awesome that you’re getting more money back this year! Whoo! I hope your bank and financial information remain secure and in your hands only. It’s great that filing the police report and contacting your bank got all of the money back, but still, it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. :(

We still haven’t filed our taxes. One thing we were waiting on was my W2 from IZEA, which arrived the other day. I guess we better start plugging and chugging numbers to see how much we owe… maybe nothing? I am just SO worried that we’ll wind up owing. Ugh.

I hear you on wanting to save more. For my new job, I filled out my W2 so that I’m only claiming myself (meaning the largest percentage of taxes will be taken out), AND for an additional $25/week to be taken out for taxes. I also set up direct deposit between our two bank accounts — all but $50/paycheck into checking, and that $50 into savings. By the end of the year it should definitely add up!
