Day 039 – Why would you change it?

Today at work was slow at first then it picked up. I hate when it do that because you think you will have it easy but you won’t. I had an issue with an account today that I can’t think why someone would do that. I had an account that two people with the same name. I will use John Doe so I won’t get in trouble with HIPAA. Mr. Doe walked into the doctor’s office and the person at the desk told Mr. Doe that “Oh we have the wrong address and date of birth for you.” So she changed all the information on the account. Found out that the John Doe was booked was the incorrect one they changed everything about the incorrect John Doe to the patient who came in. Now I have to go back and find out what was changed. We do have a history but it doesn’t tell you what it was before just what fields were changed. Maybe I am looking at it wrong that it will make since to look for another person with the correct date of birth then change everything on the account.  I am a person don’t like to make new accounts and I try everything under the sun before I make a new one but I know for sure I won’t change a date of birth. On top of that the correct patient is a doctor’s sister who works for us. Well that’s all I have today hope you been enjoying reading about my daily life.
