Back to work always stink after a wonderful three day weekend. This weekend Danielle and I went over to Jenn’s house in PA. We love to go over there we just enjoy the nice peace and quiet. Today I checked my email and a co-worker told me that I didn’t update an account back in November of 2008. The information that she stated that I didn’t upload was a form that the patient would need to put down family and/or friends on their account so we can talk to them. So the patient sent us the form back in November and he placed someone on the account. Then he went to the doctors in January of 2009 and updated the form and he didn’t want anyone. So when my coworker saw the information on the computer she saw no information because it was changed. As I stated before that she emailed me about it because she told me that the person who called was very upset about it. So I emailed my coworker back and advise her that the patient updated the form after I did so that’s the reason she didn’t see it. Oh did I tell you that she send the email to my boss too? Well she did so I made sure that I send it back to them as well. I am so sick of people who jump up and tell on others but when they are wrong they don’t want no one to know. Anyway that’s my medical information. If you want someone to know your healthcare, be sure you fill out the doctor’s form. Well I am kindof beat now so I am going to go to relax some and hope my sunburn goes away. Yea I got burn this weekend because I am the one that didn’t put on sunscreen on before I go into the pool.
It’s Thursday!! One more day till the weekend I just can’t wait. Today at work wasn’t too bad which Thursdays are not that bad. Yesterday I took a call from an 85 year old lady. She told me that she came into the doctors for an exam. She told me that we need to change the billing code so Medicare would pay for it. We already review the doctor’s note and it was correct. I told her that she signed a form that we will know that Medicare won’t cover the charge. She told me that she didn’t read the form I told her how important it is and she told me that she is 85 and one bad eye; also she told me that she told her grandchildren not to sign anything till reading. So my question is why in the world you didn’t read it or ask about it. So my medical and billing part of this blog is if the doctor’s office told you to sign something please read the form you are sign. For that note for anything you may have to sign. You may saw my twitter or you may not about today at work. Today was pretty good had some funny calls about billing. For my job I do answer the phone calls but most of the time I work with letters patients send to us. If you didn’t know already I am from New Jersey. I will call my work ABC Medical group since I don’t want to tell everyone on the net where I work at. So this guy paid $777.28 online with his credit card. It was so happen he was keep getting bills for the charges he paid. So he sent us a letter stated that it was paid in full. I looked at his name and account number it won’t show up in our system. So I looked more into it and he attached a statement. So I looked at the statement and it shows ABC Medical Group of Tennessee. So of course he paid the wrong medical group. In his letter he wanted us to correct the account and not to send anymore statements. So I found his money on the account that we keep open where we don’t know where the money belongs. So I called him and advise him on what I found and he was ok with it I took down his credit card number so we can refund him. So my suggestion for you is be sure you paying the correct company. I mean our website says New Jersey all over and when you pay online it shows our address wouldn’t you see that when paying and looking at your credit card statement. Guess not for this patient. Today was pretty steady at work. A lot of new problems but hey I need problems for my job or I will be out of a job. I am so glad Monday is over for work that is. Some people just didn’t want to listen to me. I had this one lady told me that the doctor office told her it was “approved” by her insurance company. I stated to her that the doctor’s office may misinformed by her insurance company and it’s up to her to know what her plan cover and don’t cover. Then she wanted to talk to my boss. To us we don’t care if they want to talk to a boss or not. Most of the time we are on the same page as our boss anyway, so for you out their always call your insurance company to find out what’s cover and not.
Anyway this weekend was pretty good. I took off Friday just to relax all day. I just needed to get away from work. Oh I didn’t tell you that I am on my new laptop and it’s so nice that I don’t have to worry about things running slow and locking up on me. Anyway I don’t know too much to talk about so I think I am going to get going to relax today. So this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
Well I haven’t blog in a few days. I have been busy taking things out of storage and doing other stuff. This weekend I helped my father in law taking our stuff out of storage. The good news is we got rid of a lot of stuff. I think I just hold on too much stuff. After that Danielle and I went down the shore just to have a great night watching the ocean and walk the boardwalk. All I know that I don’t this type of living back home. I heard that Jen (jenn.nu) is bugging us to post my fireworks photos that I took. As I am typing this I am uploading them to flickr. If you would like to see them you would need to be our friend if you want to see them please send myself or Danielle a message so we can add you. Today at work we were busy a little. Most of the calls were easy. I have some hard ones but it shouldn’t take me long to fix them. I don’t want to bore you about work so I will keep this short. However, here is some information about medical billing. If you have Medicare and another insurance like Aetna, who will be your primary insurance If you still working? If you guess Aetna you are somewhat correct. Medicare will ask you how big is your job and other questions then you can find out If Medicare is your primary or not. Seven, Eight, Nine, do you know what that is? If you guess its today’s date you got it. I like working with numbers a lot. I think that’s why I don’t mind my job too much working with billing. Talking about work today was pretty good we were that busy. We have a new guy who just started Monday. So far I didn’t have to train him. I don’t mind training new people. I just hope he will last; it’s not a job for everybody. About billing it’s always good to keep track on how much you pay the doctor. If you want to know why you have to pay more always call your insurance company. If you don’t like the answer call back and get someone else. I learn as a patient and doctor’s office to do that. I had to call my insurance company twice on a charge for my wife Danielle to have it paid at 100%.
Anyway Danielle got me a print server for our printers. I should be getting it in a week or two. I can’t wait to get it so this way I can print anywhere in the house. It will be great. Well I don’t know too much more to say. Beside I am so glad this week is going real fast. So this is Matt in the hat and I am out of here of now.
Today at work was a bit better then yesterday but still crazy. As you know about Mr. Doe and the lawyer office, are you ready for the outcome? Well here I go; the lady from the lawyer office called one of my co-workers and stated to her that I’m still reviewing it, however my co-worker want me to call the him. So I called him and he stated to me that he never signed anything yesterday and he asked for their number. I gave him all the information that he would need to get a hold of the lady. Then five minutes went by and he called back and changed his story. He told me he did sign but he didn’t know what it was. I was thinking to myself why would you sign something that you don’t know what you are signing if he really did sign it. I think that the lady just tell him that to tell us that he did sign something. I think this is so wrong to do but that’s that lawyer office. I know for a fact that I am not going their if I need to see someone how they do that.
Well as I told you that I got some news. Last night I brought a new laptop. I got a HP laptop and I got a really good deal on it. The only thing is I have to wait about two to three weeks. Below you will see a photo of it. I just can’t wait to get it, also I got a free printer out of the deal.
Well here is some information about medical billing and/or insurance. If you are married with children and you and your spouse have insurance. Whose insurance will come first of your children, yours or your spouse? If you say whichever one pays better will be first you are wrong. Most insurance companies go by the birthday rule, which means if your birthday comes before your spouse in the year it will be your children’s first insurance. Just remember that’s what we are told so always check with your insurance company. So this Matt in the hat and I am out of here.
OK since my wife Danielle updated my website, she told me I need to blog more often. So here I go again, hope this time I can keep up. This website is all about me and my job. Hope I won’t make you bored you. If you want to know what I do for a living I am a patient account specialist. I work with patients with their billing questions and insurance. It can be fun and pain in the butt. So if you do have any questions I can try to answer them the best I can. Just remember that I don’t know everything and never claim to know everything.
At work today it was pretty crazy. It seems that every phone call was a problem call. I mean it’s good because it keeps us busy but then again it’s not because some people want too much from us. I will try to tell you about some information about billing or insurance every time I blogged. So here I go for the first information that’s good for you to know. If you ever get injured and need a lawyer, please keep this in mind. If your lawyer needs medical records or billing information you would need to give them the right to get this information from your doctor’s office. You would need to sign something and its only good for a time frame. Most of them are only good for ninety days. The point I am trying to tell you is this. A lady from a lawyer office called me up today as information about a patient I will call the patient John Doe. The lady told me that she did send in paper work. So I looked at John Doe’s chart and I see that he did sign it back in November of 2008. So if you do the math it’s passed ninety days. So I asked her that Mr. Doe would need to sign a new one. She got upset and didn’t know how he is going to get a hold of him. However she took down my fax number. Later on the day I got a fax from her with Mr. Doe’s signature on it. However the date next to his was today. I looked at both signature and it match so close. It looks like she just white out the date and put today’s date. So I am going to call Mr. Doe to see if he did sign something if not I will be calling her and let her know that he didn’t sign it and she did something wrong. I will be sure to tell Mr. Doe what they did. Well I gotta go eat now. Tomorrow is another day and I will tell you how it went if I get a hold of him. Also what I ordered tonight.
